Future Publishing has won the UK rights to publish Microsoft Windows XP  The Official Magazine. The two-issue title is being produced to accompany the launch of Windows XP, described as the most substantial update to Windows since Windows 95. The 132-page first issue, which will be dedicated to the new operating system, goes on sale on October 18, one week ahead of the software launch in the UK. Future says the follow-up edition, to be published in December, will coincide with Christmas demand, and will take the reader further into Windows XP as well as tackling topical consumer issues such as digital music. The win follows Future's earlier success with its official Microsoft one-shots, Microsoft Windows ME  The Official Magazine and Microsoft Office XP  The Official Magazine, published in September 2000 and May this year. Dave Taylor, publisher at Future's computing division, said: "We're thrilled that Microsoft has chosen to work with us again to support their development of Windows." " As Windows XP is the biggest software launch the PC market will see this year from the world's biggest software company, this is an excellent product for us to support. Our first official Windows magazine  Microsoft Windows ME  recorded an incredible ABC of over 70,000, a great achievement for a one-off title. We have a similar ambition level for our Windows XP title." David Weeks, Microsoft UK's product marketing manager, said: "Microsoft UK has asked Future Publishing to produce Microsoft Windows XP  The Official Magazine based on the excellent results of their previous publications. The magazine will be an excellent introduction to the highly anticipated next release of Windows." Microsoft Windows XP  The Official Magazine will be distributed nationally and will also be promoted to Microsoft's 500,000 email newsletter subscribers. {{CTN }}
