Costco set to expand into Australia

Issaquah, Washington: Costco Wholesale is planning to enter the Australian market next year, according to CEO Patrick Noone. The company is currently looking for locations for 150,000 sq ft depots and has looked at sites in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra and Adelaide. "There is a lack of competition in the Australian market," Noone said. "We have a well-run operation and there are efficiencies of scale selling merchandise in bulk. We can bring a lot of value to the market."
