A burst of advertising has been launched for Asahi beer. The Japanese brew is appearing on ads on the London Underground and at some regional stations. The posters will run until June and will be supported by ads in style magazines.
Asahi will also introduce a more consumer friendly outer carton for multipacks of 330ml bottles. The new red, silver and black carton will be available in Sainsbury, Unwins and Majestic from the end of this month.

foster's big bottle
Foster's is making its debut in the large bottled lager arena with a 660ml format. Scottish Courage Brands said the market was dominated by Stella Artois and sister brand Kronenbourg.
The new bottle is aimed at promoting beer as a meal time drink and contains enough liquid for two servings of just over a half pint. It has an rsp of £1.69.

box for UK fridges
German wine brand Fire Mountain has introduced a 1.5-litre wine box designed with the UK fridge in mind. The new format will retail for £7.49 and joins the larger 3-litre pack which is already available. The brand's bottles have not been overlooked in the innovations. From May Fire Mountain Riesling will sport a screwcap closure. The image of the range is also being restyled.

first pinot gris
Beringer Blass Wine Estate has purchased an Australian producer specialising in Pinot Gris in a bid to expand its range of regional wines from the country. The wine division of brewing giant Foster's bought T'Gallant Winemakers for an undisclosed sum and said it would provide the company with its first Pinot Gris and "its first offering from the increasingly popular Mornington Peninsula region".
