Marmite’s Australian counterpart Vegemite has rolled out a new variant that includes cream cheese and a “secret” ingredient after a poll of 3,000 consumers said they wanted it to spread more easily, according to The Times.
The bottles currently being delivered to supermarkets in Australia are yet to be named, and feature a label reading “Name Me.”
Manufacturer Kraft Foods has launched an online competition to find a name for the iconic brand’s new product. Ideas submitted from the public to date include I Just Mite, Vegelite, Vegesmooth, Velvetmite and Kangamite.
Although there are no current plans to export the line overseas, Kraft is sending samples to popular Australian haunts in London over the next few weeks for Australians living in Britain to try.
