The Salmon Farm Protest Group has claimed its six-month Supermarket Watch Campaign, which started in April, was an "outstanding success".

More than 100 incidents of the mislabelling of farmed salmon lines were reported.

Volunteers visited supermarkets to keen a sharp eye on compliance with new EU regulations making it compulsory for supermarkets and fishmongers to label salmon as farmed or wild.

Group chairman Bruce Sandison said: "We made a not inconsiderable impact with our campaign forcing supermarkets to comply with the regulations as a matter of urgency, and, in doing so, we encouraged Trading Standards Officers to treat non-compliance with the seriousness it deserved.”
