The supreme champion of the annual Great Taste Awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Food Retailers, is Gwynedd-based Welsh Lady Preserves.
The company won the accolade, which is sponsored by Fortnum & Mason, for its Apple & Cinnamon Curd.
The awards aim to highlight the best speciality and fine food products and are split into gold, silver and bronze categories. They were announced at London’s Olympia.
Bob Farrand, national director of the Guild of Fine Food
Retailers, said there had been a record number of entries: “We had the largest number of entries in our nine-year history, with a total of 4,100. The increased number of entries is a testimony to the growing importance of the speciality and fine food market.
“The increased number of gold medal winners - more than 300 this year - just goes to show the exceptional quality of regional and speciality food and drink available.”
Welsh Lady Preserves also won the awards for Best British Speciality, sponsored by Food from Britain, and Best Welsh Speciality, sponsored by the Welsh Development Agency’s food directorate.
