Dried fruit specialist Whitworths is expanding its fruit snacks portfolio with a range of FX fruit energy bars. On shelf next Saturday (February 1), the new range consists of high fibre, almost fat-free pure fruit bars with no added sugar in three varieties: apricot, pear & currant and apple, pear & berry. Rsp: 42p, 30g. "The emphasis is on taste, health and nutrition," said marketing head David Smith. "They are aimed at people who lead an active healthy lifestyle but who still want to be able to enjoy a snack." A sampling programme at fitness centres and sports events kicks off in February, and consumer ads in health-oriented and youth titles appear in the spring. The launch follows new children's snacks Sunny Raisin and Fruitini. More launches are planned. {{P&P }}
