Sugro business development manager Tabitha Hunter-Smale has welcomed the new members

Wholesale buying group Sugro has welcomed four new members.

Connective Pharma, FMCG Trading, Sun Exotic Wholesale and Metropharm will add over £24m to Sugro’s turnover.

The impulse group now has 93 wholesale members with a combined turnover of £1.3bn.

“New member acquisition continues to be a key focus for the business development team and allows us to strengthen our offering to both new and existing Sugro members,” said Sugro business development manager Tabitha Hunter-Smale. “Our focus has been and always will be individual member-centric, utilising our experienced in-house team to provide the very best in sales, IT, design and marketing support. We are excited to expand our membership in these uncertain times and delighted independent wholesalers looking for growth and support continue to choose to partner with Sugro UK.”

A spokesman for Croydon-based Sun Exotic Wholesale added: “We are proud and excited to join Sugro. Their buying power and expertise in the market will enable us to be in a better position by offering our customers not only the best possible pricing, but also access to a wider range of products from market leaders. Therefore, we are expecting to triple our turnover with them.”

Earlier this month The Grocer revealed four Sugro members who were also part of Unitas Wholesale had decided to terminate their relationship with the latter to focus solely on Sugro.

This followed an ultimatum in the summer from Unitas which banned businesses from holding joint memberships.
