Walkers is ploughing £4m behind Wotsits and Square Crisps in a bid to take both brands to a wider audience.
Wotsits is getting a new Flamin Hot variant and improved Really Cheesy flavour, while Square Crisps is getting new pack designs and flavour “upgrades” for its two most popular lines - Cheese and Onion and Salt and Vinegar.
A new six-pack of Mild Cheese Wotsits with no preservatives, no artificial colours and no artificial flavourings will also feature.
Trade marketing manager Nicky Seal said £1.5m had been set aside to promote Wotsits this year, while Square Crisps will benefit from a £2.5m support programme.
She said Flamin Hot Wotsits were set to be supported by TV advertising in April. Square Crisps will get a longer run of support between this month and next. Promotional activity for the latter, said Seal, will focus on regions where sales are not as strong as in others.
