Harris + Hoole is closing six branches

Tesco-backed coffee chain Harris + Hoole has confirmed it is closing six of its outlets in London and the South East.

Five shops including Walton-on-Thames and Hounslow are among those to close, as well as one ‘pop-up concession’ in a Tesco store in Highbury.

”Harris+Hoole is a fast-growing business,” said Harris + Hoole co-founder Nick Tolley. ”We have six more stores scheduled to open this year and the vast majority of our stores continue to perform strongly.

”However, like any business which has grown rapidly, some locations have performed better than others, so it makes sense for us to review those locations which have done less well, or where the lease is coming to an end. This review of our business was led by Harris+Hoole and we continue to have the full support of Tesco.”

It is believed Tesco owns a 49% stake in Harris + Hoole. It began opening branches of the chain in stores last year as it aimed to turn out-of-town supermarkets into destination locations, alongside other acquisitions including restaurant chain Giraffe and Euphorium Bakery.
