Tesco is cutting online charges and lowering the price of everyday items

Tesco ramped up its price offensive today as it cut the cost of more than 30 products on everyday lines, including breakfast items such as bacon, baked beans and bread.

The retailer also revealed it would introduce free click & collect grocery across all locations, having previously charged £3 for weekend slots. One-hour Tesco.com delivery slots will now be available for £1, down from £3.50. Its Delivery Saver prices have also been lowered.

The price cuts mean that Tesco.com customers could save up to £252 a year, it said, while click & collect customers could cut their spend by up to £111 a year.

“These new lower prices on everyday products will really help families on a budget,” said David Wood, UK marketing director at Tesco.

“Together with £1 home delivery or free click & collect for food shopping, our customers are going to make real savings.

“By cutting the price of eggs, bacon, tomatoes, bread, butter and baked beans, a family of four who like a cooked breakfast once a week will save around £96 a year.”
