Brits knocked back £3.9bn worth of still wine over the past year, but which countries of origin has the nation favoured? We’ve teamed up with Statista and IRI to find out.

Despite France still having a reputation for making the highest-quality wines, it’s clear shoppers are steering away from Europe. None of the Continent’s wines are in growth [IRI 52w/e 30 January 2016].

It’s not looking that much better elsewhere: the year’s biggest loser was the US, which suffered a fall of £43.1m.

By contrast, things are looking good in Chile and Argentina which gained £11.6m and £20.8m, respectively. And, there must be something in the water (or wine) down under, as Australia and New Zealand enjoyed collective growth of £56.8m this year.
