Stefan Barden has left foodservice giant Brakes Group following a management restructure that saw his position as UK chief executive axed.

Brakes concluded a simplified management structure with shorter reporting lines represented the way forward following a review of the business.

All roles previously reporting to Barden will now report into group chief executive Philip Jansen. The role of UK chief executive will not be replaced.

Barden spent just a year in the role, having joined on last January following four years as boss of Northern Foods.

“Stefan has made a significant contribution to Brakes, leading the delivery of our five-year UK financial plan and our future investment programme,” said Jansen.

“I am very sorry that Stefan is leaving as a result of these changes. I would like to thank him for his vision, energy and support over the past 12 months, and wish him continued success in the future.”
