Delamere Planted

A range of four on-the-go cartons is set to join the range in coming months

Delamere Dairy is set to launch its first branded range of plant-based milk alternatives under a new brand, Planted.

The goats milk specialist is set to launch the range in Asda from 6 August, with litre cartons of Oat Drink with Banana and Coconut Drink with Dark Chocolate the first to go on sale (rsp: £2.20/one litre).

Further stockists are set to follow over the coming months, while the brand already has line extensions in the works. Its one-litre SKUs will be joined by a range of 330ml on-the-go cartons, featuring the two introductory flavours as well as Almond Drink with Coffee and Oat Drink with Date & Vanilla variants.

Opinion: From ‘free-from’ to ‘full of’: welcome to the future of dairy alternatives

Delamere has produced plant-based milk alternatives including soya, oat, rice, coconut and almond drinks under supermarkets’ own labels for more than 20 years, but saw leaps in popularity last year as its value sales in the category rose by 20% from 2016 to 2017.

“We are fundamentally a goat and dairy alternative company so while this is a new venture in terms of a branded launch, the plant-based sector is not new for Delamere, but an extension to what we have done for many years based on market opportunity,” said a spokeswoman for Delamere.

“All variants in the initial Planted lineup are soya-free and produced in the UK.”

Planted would partner with the Woodland Trust, said Delamere, donating 2p from every one-litre carton sold to the trust to plant and protect trees and woods across the UK.
