Carlsberg-owned London Fields Brewery has launched a duo of canned craft beers into Morrisons.

They are Hackney Hopster pale ale (4.2% abv), a “thirst quenching pale with notes of grapefruit, lemon zest and gooseberry” and 3 Weiss Monkeys white IPA (5% abv), a blend of Hefeweizen and IPA styles, which gave “a tropical boom of flavours including banana, citrus and spice” (rsp: £1.75/330ml).

The packaging was designed by ‘psychedelic illustrator’ Luke McLean, who has previously worked with rock bands such as U2, Motorhead and The Horrors.

The brand was “always on the lookout for collaborations with local breweries and creative minds but our priority has always been to simply deliver great beer”, said London Fields head brewer Talfryn Provis-Evans.

“It’s brilliant to have the support and backing from Morrisons. We’re really proud of the work we’ve done in the last year and are excited to put the brewery on the map as a destination for great craft beer.”

London Fields was snapped up last year by Carlsberg for an undisclosed amount, with Carlsberg UK CEO Julian Momen stating at the time it would help the megabrewer “build a credible craft portfolio”.

Since the acquisition, Carlsberg has reintroduced brewing at London Fields’ original Hackney base - under its previous owner, Julian De Vere Whiteway-Wilkinson, brewing had been outsourced to a third party.
