The voucher misleads consumers into thinking they can claim up to £5 off any Benson & Hedges product in-store

Japan Tobacco International is alerting retailers to a fake tobacco voucher scam circulating in Nottinghamshire.

The voucher misleads consumers into thinking they can claim up to £5 off any Benson & Hedges product in-store.

However, JTI UK said that it did not offer any such voucher and was not affiliated to it in any way.

“If retailers are presented with the voucher they should refuse it and immediately report the incident to Trading Standards on 03454 040506,” said JTI head of communications Mark Yexley.

“It is also recommended that any CCTV footage of the attempted use should be retained to help any investigation that may be pursued.”

It added that its website JTI Advance also provides retailers with links to report suspicious activity in their area.

This is not the first time voucher scams have targeted JTI brands. Silk Cut, Mayfair and Benson & Hedges were also hit by a similar fraudulent scheme in March 2015.
