Aldi has awarded a new contract to a Hull flowers business to supply 200 million bunches over five years.
JZ Flowers, which employs 400 staff, has been supplying Aldi since 1995, initially into a handful of shops and later expanding to all the discounter’s 892 UK and Ireland stores.
The fresh flowers include mixed bouquets and “key ranges at Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day”, Aldi said.
JZ Flowers, owned by the Zwemstra family, has sites in Newport, near Hull, as well as Spalding in Lincolnshire and Naas in Ireland.
Founder Jelle Zwemstra said: “Thanks to the relationship with Aldi during the last 25 years, we have substantially grown our business, invested in new production facilities and taken on more staff.
“This contract provides us with long-term security and gives us the confidence to continue investing in the business.”
