Poundland has announced a partnership with Greencore to provide chilled food in stores across the UK.
The discounter said the deal would improve its chilled offering after the previous supplier, believed to be Kerryfresh, entered administration in March.
The new range will include bread and milk as well sandwiches and pies, plus products offered for a limited time.

Poundland said Greencore had contacted many of the discounter’s existing suppliers to continue the distribution of its products to the discounter.
A Poundland spokesman said the deal had been signed in April although the retailer only announced it today. He said there had been no chilled food offering in Poundland stores for a three-week period between Kerryfresh entering administration and the new deal being signed. It had then taken a further two weeks for strocks to return to their former levels, he added.
“We’re pleased that we’ve been able to review our fresh offer for customers and put in place a new partnership to help a number of suppliers get access to our seven million customers each week,” said Poundland fmcg trading controller Chris Burns.
“We’re looking forward to working with Greencore on the new customer offer and want to extend our thanks to our chilled suppliers for their patience during a short period of uncertainty.”
Greencore direct to store commercial director Vince McVerry said the food manufacturer and distributor was “very pleased to be working with Poundland in the reinstatement of chilled food ranges for their customers”.
He added that Greencore would develop “the future range and proposition with them as we seek to develop chilled food sales that meet the changing needs of their shoppers”.
