Dutch grocery giant Ahold has reported a 2.5% increase in third quarter sales to €6.9bn. Profits during the period rose 5.3% to €300m. It also performed particularly well in the US, where sales rose 8.5% to $5.8bn.
Smiths News has suffered a drop in full-year revenues of more than 5%, as newspaper and magazine sales continue to fall. However, while group sales dropped from 1.8bn to 1.7bn in the year to 31 August, pre-tax profits rose 10% to 38.6m.
Price hikes meant third-quarter profits rose at the world’s largest brewer, despite a slight dip in beer volumes.
