Spar is giving children a head start at their primary school sports day by supplying them with professional-style kits this summer.
Young athletes will get numbered bibs as well as a finish tape, badges and posters in 2,000 packs produced by the retailer as part of its Schools Sports Initiative.
Spar marketing controller Simon Fisher said it was a good example of Spar retailers backing their local communities. "The feedback we receive is fantastic, with more schools becoming involved each year," he said.
The scheme is part of Spar's involvement in national and international athletics.
