Kettle Foods has launched a range of tortilla chips, two months after rival Tyrrells entered the category.

The Kettle Tortilla Chips, which will hit shelves in August, come in four flavours: Sea Salted, Sweet Chilli Salsa, Nacho cheese and Cool Sour Cream [rsp: £1.85/160g].

“We believe there is an appetite among slightly older consumers for subtler, more natural-tasting tortilla chips,” said Kettle Foods marketing director Andrew Slamin.

He added that the Kettle tortillas, which he described as based around traditional Mexican flavours, were a different proposition to Tyrrells’, which featured seasonings inspired by English cuisine.
