The dairy industry will be rolling back the clocks tomorrow evening, resurrecting an iconic milk ad from the 1960s to mark the start of the new series of Mad Men.

The Drinka Pinta Milka Day ad features a gymnast called “pinta man”, who, according to the ad, is “superbly fit, helped by the milk he drink – a pinta day at least.”

It is one of a number of vintage ads from the 1960s, which will be shown by Sky during Mad Men, which is set in the advertising industry of the 1960s, tomorrow.

The Milk Marketing Forum said it was delighted to have been approached by BSkyB to supply the ad for the new Mad Men season premiere. “Whether it’s Drinka Pinta Milka, Accrington Stanley or the current ‘make mine milk’ moustache campaign, families have been inspired to make milk part of their diet for decades by some of the most iconic generic advertising in history,” said chairman Sandy Wilkie.

“The warmth the public show to these adverts highlights how important it is that the milk industry continues to get behind campaigns that keep the white stuff in the hearts and minds of the great British public.”
