Bass ale revamp reflects trademark history

Bass Trademark No.1 will also come in 500ml bottle

Brewer AB InBev is giving its Bass brand a makeover and change of name to capitalise on the growth in sales of premium bottled ales.

The name is being changed from Bass Pale ale to Bass Trademark No.1, a nod to the brand’s history as the first registered trademark in the UK. It will also be available for the first time in a 500ml bottle, exclusive to the off-trade.

“We are excited to be bringing Bass to a new audience with the 500ml bottle,” said brewery manager Neil Nersesian. “Bass Trademark No.1 is steeped in history and will delight beer lovers today, just as it has delighted them over the last 200 years.”

The 4.4% ale will have an rsp of £1.85.
