SF&D Excellence Awards 1

Asda is the headline sponsor of the 2022 awards

The Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards are set to return this year, following a two-year hiatus due to Covid.

The awards ceremony will take place at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on 8 September, during Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight.

The event will look to recognise the businesses that are “helping to build Scotland’s reputation as a land of food and drink”, organisers said.

This year, there will be 21 categories available to enter. These include 14 tasted categories, such as Artisan Product of the Year, Distilling Product of the Year and Healthier Choice Product of the Year. These will be judged by headline sponsor Asda, as well as representatives from other retailers, foodservice, food writers and restauranteurs.

These awards will run alongside seven business categories, such as Young Talent of the Year, Primary Producer of the Year and the Regional Food & Drink Award.

The line-up also includes new categories to reflect the changing priorities of the industry, such Free From Product of the Year, the Sustainability Award and Employer of the Year.

Entries will be open until Friday 8 April.

“It’s fantastic to be able to get back together to celebrate the very best our industry has to offer. Every year, the quality and range of products our food and drink businesses are creating is increasing,” said John Davidson, deputy CEO and strategy director at Scotland Food & Drink.

“I can’t wait to see what fantastic and innovative products are on show this year, and of course, to welcome friends from across the Scottish food and drink industry to a well-deserved celebration of success later in the year.”

The last Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards, held in 2019, was attended by more than 800 people, and 320 entries were submitted across the 19 product and business categories.
