Co-founder Charlie Craig said the investment was ‘a huge vote of confidence’

Genuis Brewing has netted a cash injection from former Molson Coors boss Mark Hunter and Scottish restaurant kingpin David Wither.

Hunter, formerly the beer giant’s global CEO  and Wither, founder and chairman of the Montpelier Group of restaurants, had both made “significant” investments into the craft beer brand, said Genius - although the brand did not reveal the exact size of the investment.

The new funds would be used to support a digital marketing campaign, driving online sales following the current situation necessitating a “short-term pivot” to e-commerce, it said.

Despite the coronavirus crisis, plans to launch Genius on draft in 2020 were “still progressing”, it added.

Genius Brewing, which launched its flagship Genius Craft Lager (4% abv) in April 2018, said it was “continuing to grow” as a result of the “rising trend in healthier drinking” and the growth of the low & no alcohol category.

Genius Brewing co-founder Charlie Craig said the investment was “a huge vote of confidence and a great way to celebrate a successful first two years”.

William Reed – the publisher of The Grocer – has launched a new trade show exclusively for the low and non-alcoholic drinks industry. For more information visit low2nobev.com.
