The brand launched the range in a bid to capitalise on growing demand for breaded fish

BigFish Brand has won Ocado listings for its “ultra convenient” frozen range of breaded salmon bites and goujons.

The JCS-owned brand launched the three-strong range into Ocado last week in a bid to take advantage of growing demand for breaded fish, after the category saw 8.8% volume growth in chilled and 2.4% growth in frozen in the year to July [Nielsen Scantrack MAT 14 July 2018].

Its Salmon Bites with a plain golden crumb, Salmon Bites with lemon & pepper crumb (both rsp: £3.99/225g) and Salmon Goujons (rsp: £3.99/12-pack) cook from frozen in 16 minutes or fewer by frying, oven baking or grilling.

“We are delighted to have achieved national distribution with Ocado for these products, which takes salmon into the same territory as fish fingers and scampi,” said director and co-founder of JCS Louise Coulbeck.

“Breaded products are very much part of a fast-growing consumer trend for comfort foods, so this range is a great fit with the market.”

The Grimsby-based fish specialist, run by husband and wife team Andrew and Louise Coulbeck, sources its salmon from farms in the northeast Atlantic.
