Young’s Seafood has unveiled a Red Thai Infused Salmon as it seeks to tap demand for exotic flavours.

Available from Asda (rsp: £3.50), the 220g chilled product contains two boneless fillets marinated with garlic, paprika, chilli, coconut milk, lemongrass and parsley flavours.

The NPD comes after Young’s research found 70% of shoppers were seeking fish cooking inspiration with Asian and oriental flavours.

“Salmon is one of the favourite fish species for our shoppers, so we are excited to have introduced this red Thai infused product, giving our customers a new option to suit different types of meals at home,” said Asda buyer Kay Woods.

In March, Young’s debuted a trio of Fish Fillet Strips made using basa – a species of catfish – caught in Vietnam.

Speaking about the latest launch, Young’s Seafood marketing controller Marina Richardson said: “Over the past year we’ve seen shoppers eating at home more often, and the Red Thai Infused Salmon works well as it can satisfy both lunchtime and evening meal occasions.

“Investment into NPD at Young’s is a key priority for us as we continue to drive the market across chilled and frozen.”
