Booths recalls salads

Booths has put up point of sale signs in stores advising customers why the salads have been recalled

Booths is urgently recalling two of its own-label salads after undeclared soya, wheat and mustard were found in them.

The recall covers its chicken, quinoa and tenderstem broccoli super salad and sweet potato, falafel and houmous supergrain salad (both 225g) with best before dates of 14 and 15 December 2018 respectively.

The Food Standards Agency said the upmarket grocer’s failure to list soya, wheat and mustard on the packaging meant the items were a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to those ingredients.

Booths has put up point of sale signs in stores advising customers why the salads have been recalled and telling them to return purchases to any branch for a full refund.

A spokeswoman said: “Booths takes labelling issues very seriously and have issued a product recall. All of the affected salads have been removed from stock. If you have an allergy to mustard, wheat or soya you are advised not to eat these products and return the salads to Booths for a full refund.”

She said the recall was “small” and came as a result of the products’ supplier changing their seasoning mix.

No other products are known to be affected.

It comes weeks after Booths recalled own-label mince pies due to some of them containing plastic.
