The Nisa-supplied forecourt operator now has 15 sites in Wales due to the new acquisitions

Ascona Group has added two new sites to its portfolio, taking its estate to 62 overall.

The two service stations are based in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire and Llwyncelyn, Ceredigion in Wales.

The acquisitions mean Ascona Group now has 15 sites in the principality.

They are BP and Gulf-branded respectively, with both set to get Nisa convenience stores in September. They will also be fitted with a Starbucks.

The forecourt operator had already reached 62 sites by June. However, it told The Grocer there had been some disposals of non-core sites that “didn’t fit the long-term strategic plan”.

The new sites follow Ascona’s decision to launch operations in Scotland for the first time, with the lease of Springfield Service Station in Aberdeen in July.

Over the next 12 months, Ascona said it would seek to further grow its portfolio, with plans to reach 300 sites by 2026.

“We are delighted to add these quality forecourts to our expanding portfolio as we continue to execute on our ambitious growth strategy,” said Ascona Group property director (south) Mark Franks. “We look forward to serving the local communities in Abergavenny and Llwyncelyn with our combined fuel and retail offering.

“With 62 sites and counting, we are on track to achieving our ambitious goal to be one of the top three independent fuel retailers in the UK market. Our continued expansion is a testament to our hardworking team and demonstrates the sizeable opportunity for both organic and acquisitive growth in the market.”
