Leading popcorn brand Butterkist has unveiled its first innovation since a fire at its UK factory in Pontefract halted production last year.
A new flavour, Honey Nut, combining popcorn and peanuts covered in creamy honey toffee, is being launched by the Cadbury Trebor Bassett division Monkhill Confectionery.
It will be supported on pack by cartoon characters The Simpsons, following a deal with Twentieth Century Fox. The company is promising more NPD this year, backed by major marketing activity.
Honey Nut Popcorn will be on shelf at all major multiples with an rsp of 75p for a 100g bag.
The fire, blamed on a batch of popcorn overheating, destroyed equipment causing production to be suspended.
