The brand claims the move will remove some 126 tonnes of plastic from the supply chain

Häagen-Dazs has ditched single-use plastic spoons from its mini cup multipacks.

The ice cream brand said the move would save some 126 tonnes of plastic and prevent the distribution of roughly 30 million plastic spoons in the UK alone per year. Further sustainability “milestones” would follow this year, it said.

The brand “wanted to demonstrate our true commitment to a more sustainable future”, said its marketing manager Kat Jones.

Past months have seen the brand boosting its credentials in the booze world, partnering with the likes of Sipsmith Gin and Piper-Heidsieck champagne to create cocktail recipes incorporating its ice cream.
