Simon Mowbray Pepsi is to launch its lemon flavoured cola drink Pepsi Twist in the UK but only as part of a trial through multiple grocers, the soft drinks giant has revealed. The company was first to market with such a product in the US last year, beating rival Coca-Cola whose response was Diet Coke with Lemon. However, the scenario was reversed in the UK as Coca-Cola started selling its lemon offering on this side of the Atlantic earlier this month. Pepsi stressed that the UK launch, which gets underway next month, would only be a test at this stage with the new offering being made available in 6x330ml multipacks and 2 litre bottles. The company will analyse sales figures towards the end of the summer before deciding whether to extend the line to the impulse sector or add a diet version. The brand will be sold and marketed in the UK by Britvic Soft Drinks. Pepsi brand controller Katie Rawll said: "Pepsi Twist is a simple and appealing new offering with a difference. It is the next step in Pepsi's leading innovation programme which saw the introduction and growth of Pepsi Max into a £60m brand." {{P&P }}
