Wessanen UK has appointed Gareth Cooke as its new commercial director.

He joins the supplier – which owns brands including Clipper Teas, Kallo, Whole Earth and Mrs Crimble’s – from Molson Coors, where he was UK grocery & e-commerce sales director.

Cooke has more than 14 years’ experience in food and drink, having previously held roles at PepsiCo and Danone.

In his position at Wessanen, he will lead, develop and implement sales strategies to drive brand development across all categories and trade channels.

He would also be responsible for building awareness of Wessanen’s commitment to sustainability and how its brand could “deliver added value to retailers” the company said.

Wessanen CEO Emma Vass said she was “incredibly pleased” to welcome Cooke to the team, noting he joined at “a key time for our sales team as people put more focus on their health and the health of the planet”.

He has replaced Matin Macdonald, who has joined Arla in a newly created growth role at the dairy co-op.
