Posh soft drinks maker No1 Botanicals has appointed grocery veteran Sally Taylor as CEO to lead its global expansion plans.

Taylor joined the brand early this year as chief commercial officer. She takes up her new role after steering the business through the challenges of Covid-19. “No1 Botanicals reacted quickly and decisively to the significant changes in the market, focusing on the e-commerce sales platforms that would enable it to grow its customer base,” it said.

Taylor has more than 30 years’ fmcg experience

With more than 30 years in fmcg, Taylor has worked for the likes of Mars, Premier Foods and Allied Bakeries, and held senior commercial roles at drinks giants Diageo, Britvic and PepsiCo. During her lengthy career, she has delivered growth across Europe, the US, Africa and India.

At No1 Botanicals – supplier of healthy soft drinks made with botanical extracts such as sage and basil – Taylor has replaced founder David Spencer-Percival as CEO. He will continue as executive chairman.

Now was the right time to bring in new executive leadership from within the drinks industry, he said. Taylor had “the pedigree we need to meet our ambitious growth targets. Sally has both the knowledge and the energy to take No1 Botanicals to the next level.”

The London brand, which boasts Hollywood star Henry Cavill and Take That’s Howard Donald among its shareholders, made its debut in 2017 with a single Rosemary variant. It now offers a 10-strong lineup via around 1,500 UK outlets and countries including Germany, Italy, France and Spain.

No1 Botanicals had “really ambitious plans for the next phase” of growth, Taylor said. “With new branding, new formats and a growing footprint around the world, the family that began with No1 Rosemary Water has an incredibly exciting future ahead. I am so proud and thrilled to have the opportunity to help make it all happen.”
