The drink is vegan and gluten-free

Besos de Oro has launched a vegan, gluten-free liqueur to take on Baileys and Irish cream brands.

The brand (the name of which, translated, means ‘golden kisses’) has launched two SKUs – a core liqueur and a chocolate flavoured variant – through its website, both using brandy as a base (18% abv). They have launched via the brand’s online store (rsp: £20/70cl).

Besos claims its drink – unlike many rivals – doesn’t curdle when mixed.

“With no allergens, Besos de Oro is the ideal choice for anyone looking to enjoy an alcoholic beverage,” said Besos MD Peter Smith.

“For over half a century the Irish cream liqueur has been the favourite tipple for millions of people all over the world, but times change — as do cultures, beliefs and fashion.”

The brand had “taken this family favourite and made it the drink of the moment”, he added. “Forget lactose intolerance, gluten, nut and dairy problems. Forget cruelty to animals – Besos has solved these issues and shown it’s possible to mix ethics, allergy-free and scrumptiousness in the same glass.”
