The new packs are 30% bigger than standard Monster Munch

Walkers has unveiled a range of Giant Monster Munch crisps.

The brand’s new Giant Pickled Onion and Roast Beef flavours are 30% bigger than standard Monster Munch, and will roll out in 85g sharing bags into Tesco from Valentine’s Day, with Sainsbury’s to follow (rsp: £2).

Sharing bags had boomed over the year of the pandemic and were now “the biggest and fastest-growing format in the crisps and snacks category”, said Walkers portfolio lead Will Robinson.

The launch marks the first NPD from Monster Munch in a decade. It makes Monster Much the second brand to be given the ‘giant’ treatment by Walkers: it launched Giant Wotsits last year.

Robinson said Walkers anticipated “similar if not greater success” for Monster Munch in the format.

However, it comes as the Monster Munch brand didn’t make much headway in the mults last year: volumes of the brand were up 1.8% over the year to 5 September, but its value fell 0.5% [Nielsen].
