Lightly Salted and Sweet & Salty will be made available to retailers from September

Premium crisps brand Burts Snacks has ventured into popcorn.

The range has debuted with two flavours: Lightly Salted and Sweet & Salty. Each pack contains 126 calories or fewer, with no artificial ingredients.

The NPD has been listed in foodservice and will be available to retailers nationwide from September (rsp: 95p/20g-28g).

Described as “the ultimate hand-cooked and small batch ready-to-eat popcorn”, the innovation would help Burts “meet snack cravings yet remain a healthy food option for consumers”.

Burts Snacks CEO Dave McNulty said it was “great to be expanding the products in our range, especially with our focus on building the Burts brand”.

It made “perfect sense to use our expertise to develop the ultimate popcorn under Burts”, he added.

“At Burts, we pride ourselves on delivering quality, hand-cooked products that are made with care”, which was why a move into popcorn was “a vital step forward” for the brand’s growth, said McNulty.

It comes after Burts unveiled a new brand identity and a raft of new additions to its range in March.
