Princes has unveiled a canned chicken meatballs lineup billed as a “versatile cupboard ingredient”.

Tomato Sauce and Gravy variants (rsp: 69p/370g) will roll into Farmfoods and B&M from Wednesday (30 June).

Aimed at younger shoppers, the new duo would “prove to be popular with both existing and new consumers” said Princes commercial director Dean Towey.

“Younger people have realised the versatility, convenience and quality of canned ready meals in the past year,” he added.

The meatballs come after, Princes Fruit moved into on-the-go with a range of fully recyclable plastic-free fruit pots.

The aluminium pots, which feature an ‘easy peel’ aluminium lid and cardboard sleeve, were a UK first, the brand claimed.

Value sales of canned food across grocery grew last year by 19.6% to total £2.8bn [Kantar 52 w/e 21 February 2021], with Princes registering a 13.8% rise.

That came after the supplier saw its profits more than double in the year leading to the first lockdown.
