The bars are set to roll out by September to tap the lead-up to Christmas

Festive staple Quality Street is moving into chocolate bars.

Favourites is a duo of countlines inspired by Quality Street’s most popular flavours – The Orange Crunch and The Purple One.

The Orange Crunch bar features a milk chocolate shell with an orange flavour filling and crunchy orange flavour pieces, while The Purple One features a layer of caramel on a milk chocolate base filled with hazelnuts.

The bars are set to roll out by September to tap the lead-up to Christmas (rsp: £1/84g-87g).

Quality Street has launched limited-run bars before, but a Nestlé spokeswoman said while these bars would only be sold seasonally, they would become a permanent yearly fixture of the Quality Street range.

Quality Street isn’t the only gifting brand eyeing bars as an area for growth.

Gifting stalwart Ferrero Rocher launched a range of 90g bars in August last year, citing a desire to tap the “big night in” occasion it said was growing despite the easing of Covid restrictions.

It was “clear from the very significant increase in sales of gifting blocks over the past few years, that consumers are seeking out new ways to enjoy seasonal confectionery”, said Nestlé marketing manager Rachel Beaufoy.

There was “an opportunity to grow the market/category in the early Christmas season, with impulse formats and sharing formats for smaller, informal occasions versus the later season memorable celebrations that the Quality Street tub and tin are so valued for”, Beaufoy added.
