Aldi has partnered with the Teenage Cancer Trust for seven years

Aldi has hit a milestone of raising £13m for the Teenage Cancer Trust in a seven-year partnership with the charity.

Aldi staff have raised funds by running marathons, holding cake sales and doing sponsored sky dives among other activities, while shoppers have also donated to the cause.

The mark the £13m raised, Aldi staff across the UK are set to walk 13,000 steps a day over two weeks as part of the charity’s ‘Walk With Us’ challenge, which also marks International Nurses Day on 12 May. The challenge is set at 13,000 steps a day to reflect the average distance walked by a nurse in a shift.

The money raised will help the Teenage Cancer Trust continue to provide specialised nursing care and expert support for young people with cancer across the UK.

Aldi had set a target of raising £10m for the charity by 2027. Having met that early, in 2024, the discounter’s latest aim is to raise £20m by 2031.

Aldi is also making a £13,000 donation to mark the occasion.

“Reaching £13m is a fantastic achievement and shows what can be accomplished when colleagues and customers come together for a cause that truly matters,” said Aldi UK national sustainability director Liz Fox.

“The work Teenage Cancer Trust does is invaluable, and we’re determined to go even further – that’s why we’ve set ourselves the ambitious target of £20m by 2031.”

Teenage Cancer Trust head of high value partnerships Hannah Lloyd said: “This milestone represents a significant commitment from Aldi, their colleagues and customers, and we’re enormously grateful for their ongoing support.

“Every pound raised helps us fund specialist nurses, youth workers and hospital wards that make such a difference to young people facing cancer. This partnership is changing lives, and we’re excited to build on this success together.”
