Aldi has set the aim of opening the equivalent of one new store every week as part of its rollout plan, after confirming six new locations.
By the end of the year Aldi will open new stores in Litherland, Eastbourne, Chesterfield and Shoreditch in London. It will also open new stores in Meadowfield in Durham and Ashford, Kent by the end of the year.
Alongside its currently confirmed list, the new stores mean Aldi will have opened “an average of one store a week between now and the remainder of the year” it says.
The discounter currently has 1,050 UK stores, and is investing £650m into a reinvigorated store rollout with the aim of reaching 1,090 by the end of 2025.
Aldi has confirmed it will open previously announced stores in Fulham Broadway, London and Deeside in Wales over the “next two months”. A further 35 of its existing stores will be refurbished by the end of the year.
“At Aldi, our goal is to make sure people across the UK have access to affordable, high-quality food, and opening new stores is key to making that happen,” said Jonathan Neale, Aldi UK MD for national real estate.
“We’re now opening an average of one new store a week for the rest of 2025, showing just how ambitious our plans are to build a store network that will help us reach millions of new customers. But it’s not just about openings – it’s also about making sure we have the best-paid teams in place to run them.”
Aldi has the long-term goal of reaching more than 1,500 stores across the UK, and has published a “wish list” of priority locations, after asking the public where it should target new stores.
It is currently recruiting for 1,000 roles to work in the new stores, and last month became the first UK supermarket to increase shopworker’s minimum pay to £13 an hour to ensure it is able to attract colleagues. Each new store will create around 40 roles.
The Aldi stores confirmed to open “in the coming months” are:

- Philadelphia Lane, Houghton le Spring, Tyne and Wear
- Mill Road, Meadowfield, Durham
