Golden Acre Foods is launching Dairy Valley Paneer (£3.50/200g) into Sainsbury’s this month, followed by Tesco in November.

According to Golden Acre, the product stands apart from its competitors due to its authenticity – having been made by Indian chef and Dairy Valley Foods founder Bipen Sharma using traditional techniques.

This ensures that the paneer has a “clean taste and soft texture” and that it is “spreadable and suitable for crumbling into dishes”, it added.

Sharma said Dairy Valley Paneer was “as authentic as it can be outside of India” and that the decision to base its European factory in Bulgaria was taken as “the milk from local cows is a close match to Indian cows milk”.

“It looks, feels and tastes just like the real thing, which we know will appeal not only to existing consumers of paneer, but also to a new generation of consumers looking for truly authentic South Asian foods that are highly versatile and delicious,” he added.

The national launch formed part of the business’ wider strategy to “grow authentic world food products” across UK retailers and “meet the rising demand for high-quality Indian ingredients,” according to Rebecca Cutter, Golden Acre Foods marketing director.
