Caribbean rum brand Canerock has sealed a grocery debut with Sainsbury’s.
Its flagship namesake rum has landed in 400 of the retailer’s stores (rsp: £36.50/70cl).
It is infused with coconut, ginger and Madagascan vanilla, and offered “soft vanilla notes and a mellow tropical character”, according to Canerock.
Drinkers could expect “rich caramel, soft spice, and raisins on the palate, unfolding into hints of allspice and oak tannins”, the brand added.
The 40% abv tipple is designed to be supped neat, over ice or in a mule cocktail.
“Canerock is pure island spirit in a bottle,” said Connie Brown, head of retail at Canerock brand owner Maison Ferrand UK. “Smooth, flavourful, and made for slow sipping. We’re delighted that rum lovers across the UK can now discover it in over 400 Sainsbury’s stores and experience a true taste of Barbados.”
Until recently, Canerock was distilled in Jamaica, but production has been transitioned to Maison Ferrand’s own Stade’s West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados.
The evolution had allowed Maison Ferrand to “honour Canerock’s Caribbean profile while bringing production closer to the local, natural ingredients that shape Canerock’s signature character”, according to the supplier.
“Canerock remains true to its DNA: a smooth, flavourful sipping rum that embodies the warmth, creativity, and craftsmanship of the Caribbean, now proudly with Barbadian roots,” Maison Ferrand added.
