Catherine David first joined Wrap in October 2021

Former Fairtrade and Plastics Pact boss Catherine David is to become the new CEO of climate change body Wrap.

David will begin the new role on 1 June, following the announcement in March that her predecessor Harriet Lamb was stepping down to become CEO of the Green Party of England and Wales.

She joined Wrap in October 2021 as its director for behaviour change & business programmes.

David served as Fairtrade’s acting commercial director in her previous role and was also previously a national account manager for The Co-op’s farming operations, and is one of the most respected leaders in sustainability and ethical trade, said Wrap.

She currently directs its business collaboration work including the Plastics Pact, the Food and Drink Pact and the Textiles Pact, as well as the organisation’s citizen behaviour change programmes Recycle Now and Love Food Hate Waste.

“I am absolutely delighted to be taking on the role of CEO of Wrap,” David said.

“We are on a mission to embed circular living in every boardroom and every home, and it is a huge privilege to take on the job of leading the wonderful team as CEO.

“I look forward to working with Wrap’s partners and stakeholders across the world to take action, at a crucial time for our planet and for all of us who call it home.”

Chair of Wrap’s trustees Sebastian Munden said: “Catherine has the skills, determination, and expertise to lead Wrap at this important time, boosted by her experience of the last three-and-a-half years of change.

“Catherine has demonstrated her commitment to delivering against an ambitious strategy focused on system change in food and drink, materials like textiles and packaging, and the circular economy, while expanding our global reach and impact.”
