Gail’s is set to keep 10 London stores open this Christmas Day for customers celebrating the holiday in “different ways” or for those not celebrating at all.
The news, announced on Gail’s Instagram page, stated: ”If you’re out and about on Christmas Day, a few of our bakeries will be open. A place for a coffee, a loaf or a familiar face on a quiet morning.”
It added that for those visiting an open store on Christmas, the upmarket bakery chain will be giving away free mince pies as a “small gesture of thanks to anyone spending part of the day with us”.
The following Gail’s sites will be open on 25 December:
Shaftesbury Avenue: 7am to 8pm
Long Acre: 8am to 4pm
Balham: 7am to 5pm
Greenwich: 7am to 5pm
Dulwich: 10am to 5pm
Clapham Old Town: 8am to 5pm
Blackheath: 8am to 5pm
Highgate: 8am to 3pm
Golders Green: 8am to 5pm
St John’s Wood: 8am to 5pm
Gail’s added: “People celebrate Christmas in different ways, and some not at all. Every year, our teams choose what’s best for them.”
All bakeries will open as usual on Christmas Eve and most will reopen on Boxing Day.
It rounds off a strong year for Gail’s as revenue grew by 20% to £278m, while EBITDA also rose by 20% to £53.3m.
The “strong year-on-year growth” was “underpinned by the increasing demand for high-quality, nutrient-dense food, and by the support of the communities we serve”, a Gail’s spokesperson said.
