International Procurement & Logistics looks set to be on the hunt for a new MD for produce following the resignation of Jonathan Tremayne.
A spokesman confirmed Tremayne was gearing up to leave the Asda-owned company in June after nearly six years at the helm of its produce division.
An internal email from the leadership teams at Asda and IPL announcing his departure to staff this week praised Tremayne for his contribution.
“Under Jonathan’s leadership our fresh produce business has helped Asda win and retain many new customers by improving quality, service, availability and price. This achievement has been of note to our competitors, who have attempted to replicate our business model,” it said.
“As a key member of IPL’s operational board, Jonathan has also helped to shape the development of the wider business. He has worked conscientiously and diligently to deliver the best results on behalf of his team and IPL.”
The latest announcement comes six months after the company lost group MD Nick Scrase.
Scrase left the business in September, moving on set up consultancy Burnsall Associates. The company is yet to confirm replacements for either Scrase or Tremayne.
Prior to joining IPL in 2012, Tremayne was MD of produce and flower supplier Emmett UK and held roles at G’s Fresh including MD of marketing.
IPL posted a 25% boost in profits before tax for 2016 taking pre-tax profits to £20.5m, up £4m on 2015 after benefiting from the weakened value of sterling following the EU referendum.
