Jim Beam has reinvented its Jim Beam Black whiskey and added a pineapple flavoured spirit drink.
Jim Beam Black (rsp: £31.50/70cl) is now aged for seven years, as opposed to the six for which it was previously matured. It also now carries a higher abv of 45% – up from 43% previously.
The refreshed Black – which is landing in Tesco stores this week – was “positioned for the premium American whiskey category”, said Jim Beam owner Suntory Global Spirits.
It offered UK retailers “an opportunity to upsell richer expressions within everyday grocery channels”, the supplier added.
Also landing in UK retail this month is Jim Beam Pineapple, a whiskey-based spirit drink with added pineapple flavouring.
Bottled at 32.5% abv, Pineapple (rsp: £20/70cl) offered “tropical pineapple notes layered over classic oak and caramel nuances”.
The fruity tipple would serve as “a refreshing and accessible option for both seasoned bourbon drinkers and those new to whiskey, particularly within the growing UK trend for fruit-forward, flavoured spirits”, said Suntory.
“We love putting fresh spins on our brands— and Jim Beam Pineapple does exactly that,” said Freddie Noe, eighth generation master distiller of James B Beam Distilling Co. “This new flavour is our first flavoured spirit in four years. It is a celebration of flavour and community, made to be enjoyed with family and friends.”
Pineapple will land on Asda shelves on 13 October.
