Wine retailer Laithwaites has partnered with Deliveroo to offer a selection of 60 wines for delivery in “as little as 20 minutes” after ordering.

The retailer is stocking 60 “professionally selected, premium wines at various price points” in Deliveroo’s rapid grocery Hop fulfilment centres in London, Bristol, Manchester, Brighton and Cambridge.

It is the first time Laithwaites – which has a substantial online business – has been available for on-demand delivery, which it said would help it “diversify and reach a new, broader audience”.

The partnership is with Deliveroo Hop’s dark stores it runs with Morrisons. Deliveroo launched Hop in 2021 to compete with a spate of rapid delivery grocery players like Getir and Gopuff, which were fast expanding across London and beyond. Some Hop stores have been established with Morrisons, and others with Waitrose.

The companies said that they are planning to introduce food pairing guidance, “offering customers a more holistic purchasing experience by helping them choose the perfect wine to complement their meal”.

Featuring in the curated range is The Black Stump – Laithwaites’ “bestselling wine of all time”; Château La Clarière – the origin wine of Laithwaites; and Il Papavero – the retailer’s most re-ordered red.
