Graze Cherry Bakewell Oat Boosts

Unilever is exploring the sale of healthy snakcing brand Graze, according to the Financial Times. The fmcg giant bought Graze back in 2019 for a cut price £150m, and costs and jobs were cut at the snacking company as it fully integrated into Unilever over the course of last year.

The EC could be set for multiple investigations. Brussels as accused AliExpress of breaking its rules. The FT, Guardian and WSJ all covered the story, finding that the European Commission uncovered “systematic failures” in Alibaba’s AliExpress as it did not prevent the sale of illegal and dangerous goods. 

Meanwhile, Reuters reports that Mars’ $36 billion Kellanova deal is facing an antitrust investigation by the EU. The multinational is facing scrutiny into competition and could be forced to divest of assets when the investigation concludes.

Reuters led with the story that drinks maker Pernod Ricard is streamlining its business by grouping brands into two main divisions. The agency said it had seen internal presentation slides, as European spirits makers grapple with a downturn in sales.

Selfriges is to open a private members club on the top floor of its Oxford Street flagship store, reports The Telegraph. The move, designed to “revive its fortunes”, will see a bar and dining room installed on its fourth floor and terrace. It comes after the London mayor’s office went public with its plans to pedestrianise Oxford Street in a bid to make the shopping district more enticing.

John Lewis has told some of its buying and commercial teams to come to the office more often, at least three days a week. The department store retailer is moving further away from its work from home policy in spite of being owned by its employees, reports the Guardian

Kellogg’s, Coca-Cola and Brewdog beer were all found on Russian shelves during an investigation by Sky News. That’s despite sanctions imposed by Western nations as a result of its full scale invasion of Ukraine more than three years ago. The investigation explores how the brands found their way into Russian supermarkets without the permission of the trademark owners.

And, finally, the flavour of gin and tonic could be impacted by climate change, a study found. The increasiny unpredictability of weather had a particular impact on the taste of gin’s key ingredient - juniper berries. The study by Heriot-Watt University was reported in the Guardian.
