Naked Wines has appointed Jack Pailing as its new chair with immediate effect.

Pailing joined the online wine retailer in March as a non-executive director, working for three months before his promotion.

“Jack brings a deep understanding of Naked Wines’ strategy and operations, as well as significant experience in governance and capital markets,” the company said.

The appointment comes after founder Rowan Gormley stepped down in March. He left soon after Naked released a new plan to return the business to revenue growth over the next five years.

The new strategy would deliver growth of between 5%-10% by 2030, the company claimed.

Revenues fell 15% in the six months to December 2024 as it lost both old and new customers, although many shareholders are recovering confidence, with losses now starting to ease.

Pailing said it was “an honour to be selected to serve as chair of Naked Wines, a business I have known well for many years as a shareholder and customer, and more recently as a non-executive director”.

Deirdre Runnette, who stepped in as interim chair since March, will continue to serve as a non-executive director.
